Opportunity Belief



1. I believe that there is an opportunity to fix the annoyance of earbuds falling out of one’s ears from exercising, studying, or even lying in bed. I believe that there can be an easy solution fix this problem – my suggestion is a special glue to put in the ear buds to prevent the ear buds from falling out of your ear.

2. The unmet need is the ability to come up with a product that will stop the earbuds from falling out of one’s ears. The need is for people who tend to work out, study, or lie on their bed listening to music. The need has always existed and people find it annoying that this tends to happen, so they are waiting for a product that helps this solution. The opportunity does exist because I see people at the gym scoff when it happens – this is from observation.

3. The prototypical customer would be someone that will be willing to try the product to see if it works and is reliable. Their feedback will be helpful for the success of the product.

4. Person 1: This person finds it very annoying and they wish there was something that could be invented to prevent this. They try to do not do as much to prevent this. This happens to them sometimes and does not know how long it’s been happening. If I asked them how weird the glue product would be and they said it would be weird but they would be willing to try it out.

Person 2: This person finds it bothersome that whenever they are in the zone, it interrupts them. This always happens to them and it has been going on for 7 years whenever they listen to music or at the gym. They would be willing to try out the product if it works and does not leave any residues.

Person 3: This person finds it annoying that it happens and that they have to constantly put it back in their ear. This sometimes happens to them and it has been going on for 8 years, since I got an iPhone. They said they will not try the glue because it might damage their ears.

5. I learned that there can be a solution, but it cannot some of the met needs for customers because customers will complain no matter what. There will always be unmet needs that services want to fix, as well. The most surprising thing I learned about my opportunity is that people have different perceptions of solutions that go along with the product.

6. I do not think my original product is there, but there are alternative options, such as headphones that wrap around your head. I believe that my opportunity is more accurate than when I started because there needs to be customer satisfaction to sell the product. I believe that a company should expand beyond its horizon to try out new products that will benefit their sales, such as trying the glue – if it does not work they can try to recreate another pair of headphones.
