Figuring Out Buyer Behavior

SEGMENT: For this segment, I chose to focus this task on teenagers and business professionals. One of the people I am interviewing happens to be my girlfriend who always uses her phone on planes, The other person happens to be my friend who is always on his phone, as well, on airplanes. Finally, this person happens to be my father, an entrepreneur and real estate agent. I chose 2 teenagers and one business professional because these people seem to campaign my product the most. I know when to rely on them for this particular cause.

THREE PEOPLE INTERVIEW

My girlfriend, Jessica: I asked her what is the very first need she does to find the solution of the problem: she stated that she will campaign this issue. She believes that it is already a burden to pay for an expensive airfare, especially when there is no Wi-Fi given. With that being said, she avoids at all costs and drives instead to for example, New York. When there is Wi-Fi, she streams on the web and glances at her phone to see if she got any more likes on Instagram or any snapchats on Snapchat. She does not sleep on airplanes, but instead would want to avoid at all costs Wi-Fi on airplanes. The sources of information that she asks to get what she wants is the flight attendant for example to see if the product is available on board, also she generally asks her mother for information. When she searches on google, usually wikipedia pops up. She says that people base their information on Wikipedia now, since it is the first thing that pops up.

My friend, Andrew: I asked him what is the very first need he does to find the solution of the problem: he stated that he would have to download movies and music before entering the plane. He said he would be appreciative if there were Wi-Fi included on board. He says "although downloading movies and music is not such a bad idea, I would want to check missed calls, texts, and updates on social media." The very first thing he does to solve the problem is to tell the flight attendant, as well, if there is Wi-Fi or not. He is often upset when he says he has missed calls from his mother, since he travels alone. The sources of information that Andrew looks for are through his relatives and parents, since they are very knowledgable. He told me that with all college costs, it would be appreciative for airplanes to include free Wi-Fi on board.

My father, Craig: I asked my father what is the very first need he does to find the solution of the problem: he stated that if the airplane can connect nearby satellite signals for airplanes that do not have wifi, then airplanes will have more approvals from customers. He thinks that airlines should also invent the same generator cruises use to connect to Wi-Fi at sea. My father every second is always interrupted by clients wishing to buy houses and properties. With Wi-Fi established on board, he would make more business and connect with his clients more. Also, he says, "we tend to be away from our family too much, so connecting with them would be a huge upgrade for planes." The sources of information that my father looks for is the airline business complying with his request.

I learned in the interviews that wishes cannot always be granted. I believe some people cannot compete with huge cooperations that want your money to go down the drain. This fact allows airlines to gain money and not want to use the money to buy an expensive generator for Wi-Fi. At this fact, maybe airlines will be able to afford generators and everyone can have their demands granted. I would describe this segment as a cause to campaign several airline businesses to establish free Wi-Fi especially at large costs. This segment demonstrates how young people and business people use this frequency the most. College funds and other savings prevent most people from flying on airplanes.
