Two
opportunities that were economic that I want to discuss are: contacting family
in Puerto Rico and Trump eliminating the federal program spending. Two
opportunities that are regulatory that I want to discuss are: GMO non- labeling
and parking at University of Florida.
1a. I
found the contacting family in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria from the Miami
Herald Page. This lead me to think that this opportunity exists because I have
many Puerto Rican friends that attend UF and are devastated by the disaster
that Hurricane Maria did. The prototypical customers would be the inhabitants
of the island. The opportunity is relatively hard to exploit because many
people cannot afford another home nor food nor water to survive themselves from
the Hurricane aftermath.
1b. From
my experience, this seems to be an issue for my friends as some of them do not
have the money to pay for the repairs that hurricane has done to their country.
Other people might not deal with the fact this may cause a long run in their
history. Also, it is very drastic to think that some people might have to leave
their families from this incident.
2a. I found the federal program spending from the Miami
Herald Page, as well. This lead me to think that this opportunity exists
because people cannot fully thrive without the money they need in order to
survive. Trump is cutting the spending from The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s
Community Block Grant Program. The customer with the opportunity seems to be
the congressmen fighting the bill to pass on the right to give $3 billion
dollars to those that need the money to survive the after math of the
hurricane. This opportunity seems to be difficult to exploit because the President
is in charge of the office, so he has power over everyone.
2b. A lot of people seem to
ignore the fact that Trump did not want to spend money on another peoples’
well-being. Some people do not pay attention to this matter because they can
afford this cost, while other people cannot afford to pay the damage.
3a. I found the GMO non-
labeling at my nearby Publix in Gainesville and in Miami (hometown). This
information has led me to think that this opportunity exists because I have
experienced this firsthand as I go through each and every one of their packing
labels in poultry, meat, fish, etc. The customer with the opportunity seems to
be me because I want to complain to Publix that they do not have GMO labeling
in their products. Publix should note which foods are organic or have GMOs.
This opportunity seems to be relatively hard to exploit since Publix is a big
company and I am a single customer that is outnumbered by thousands of
businessmen that own the food company.
3b. A lot of people do not
care if they eat GMOs because it is cheaper and the food is bigger. Some
people, like me, are very health-conscious about food and we would like to know
what it is in our food, especially if we are buying it. It annoys me because
companies should at least indicate what they are putting in their foods to
avoid conflict. I am sure other people have complained, but I am willing to do
further action if this process is not done immediately.
4a. I found parking in
Gainesville first eye, as it is hard for my friend and I to find parking at UF.
We cannot find a spot without the vehicle getting towed for an expensive price.
The customer with the opportunity seems to be us as we are not satisfied with
parking at UF. This exploit seems to be easy because many students complain
about parking at UF. If all of the students can continue to overpower UF they
can change their guidance with cars and rules.
4b. I know this is a big
deal for students at UF, but some people do not want to take immediate action,
but instead complain that this action is not being done. Who is going to take
action if this action isn’t done?
Jake, good post. I think that it is annoying that Publix does not label their non-GMO products. It is something that is trending right now and lots of people are starting to change their diets to a healthier, more grass-fed type of eating. It would be good for Publix to label them as it would it likely increase customer traffic and sell more non-GMO products as they are also more expensive.
